The North Georgia Homeschool Athletics Tribe held their first varsity home game at Veterans Memorial in Dawsonville in front of a loud crowd as they took down Victory Baptist last week, 37-20. The Tribe fired on all cylinders as the offense poured in five touchdowns and the defense forced three turnovers and a safety.
The team fed off the home crowd as head coach Austin Harmon noted the energy.
“The atmosphere was awesome, the crowd was awesome, the boys played awesome. It was great,” Harmon said. “We are a young team with only two upperclassmen, but they came out and played like they do every day. I couldn’t be prouder of the boys.”
The Tribe’s offense was led by quarterback Caleb Dill as he threw for 262 yards and five touchdowns, including a 60-yard touchdown pass to receiver Asher Harmon to set the tone early.
“We knew we could throw the ball tonight,” Harmon said. “We work on that play a good bit and I knew Asher had the speed and Caleb had the arm to make it happen.”
Harmon led the Tribe in receiving with five catches, 141 yards and three touchdowns. Eli Dill and Owen Ott both hauled in a touchdown each.
The defense also shined as they had three interceptions and two sacks. Jace Wilson impacted the game early off the edge with a safety. On top of his receiving, Eli Dill led the defense with nine tackles and an interception. Their first home win and an overall team effort helps build momentum for the developing program.
“A win like this in our first home game really ignites the fire for the whole team and our fans. I told the team this needed to be a statement win,” Harmon said. “One that everyone can look back on and remember the Tribe’s first home varsity game. The boys took it to heart.”
Although the Tribe are still young, they made a big step by joining the Georgia Association of Private and Parochial Schools’ 9-man independent league for the 2026 season. They’ll have regular home games in Dawson County, where they hope to recreate the same atmosphere from Friday night.
“When Dustin, Eric and I started this program, it was nights like this we envisioned one day with the fans, the Tribe volleyball and basketball teams coming out on a Friday night to support Tribe football,” Harmon said. “God has blessed us so much and I am so thankful for what he has done to get us here. It was a huge milestone for the team and the program.”
